Fat Jon The Ample Soul Physician - Lightweight Heavy (2004)
This is a chill ass downtempo ambient album that bumps like an old school east coast hip hop album. Check it out yo~

haruomi hosono
I considered starting a new thread for Haruomi Hosono, but I figured this post might as well go here since, after all, he is a source of much excellent chillage. I'm mostly just gonna focus on his solo stuff b/c I prefer him solo, but most people know him from YMO, which is kind of a Kraftwerk-esque techno-pop band: Technopolis, 1980
He's been making music since like the sixties, he played in Happy End, who were responsible for this little heartwarming masterpiece, which always makes me wanna get drunk and chill with my homies:
that feeling of a deep-seated well-being comes up throughout so much of his music, which is amazing considering how incredibly experimental and out there he gets, eventually...
here's something a bit closer to most of what he'll end up doing, but still the early stage of his career:
this one is from two years later, and here we start getting seriously chill and a little more spaced out:

how is that song so lush and so sparse at the same time? makes me want to float on a banana leaf by a waterfall while i eat a pluot.
okay, so here are a couple tracks from Philharmony, released in 1982, where he starts getting seriously experimental and imo fucking incredible, this is straight kraftwerk level proto-techno:
and here is an experimental pop song from the same album:
the audio is muddy on this, a quality version sounds way better, but at least its got that bizarro video that someone made. this song is just pure happiness.
this is a clip from "laughter meditation" off of one of my two favorite albums by him, Medicine Compilation from the Quiet Lodge:
here's some stuff off my other favorite album by him, N.D.E.:
bill laswell plays bass on that^
that's the end of my epic Haruomi Hosono post
